Miss Independent?

I don't understand why Kelly Clarkson would refuse to let American Idol contestants sing her songs. I mean, it's like turning your back on the people who got you to where you are. It's the same thing with people like Justin Timberlake and Ashley Parker Angel trying to distance themselves from their boyband past. Why are they so ashamed? If it wasn't for NSYNC and O-Town, they wouldn't even have a shot at a solo career. I dunno, just something that bugs me....
