I am off to read my Bible and pray because I feel incredibly guilty for using the Lord's name in vain so many times during the past two hours. I couldn't help it! I was watching American Idol and the singers were so bad that "oh my god" and "jesus!" were the only responses I could muster up! I can't even begin to list the "standouts" - and it's sad when "standouts" on an American Idol episode mean the really bad/stupidly funny contestants - but that last girl? Whoa. *crazy!* Voices in her head? BulGING eyes? Weird throaty noise? I swear Simon's eyes were darting side to side looking for security because that girl looked like a psycho! I really thought that this year people would PURPOSELY be bad so they could get their 15 minutes a la William Hung. In other words, I thought there would be people auditioning who didn't care about singing but would just put on a dumb costume and dumb act just to appear on TV. But - oh my god - these people who were bad actually BELIEVED they could make it as singers! They weren't even acting! That is so sad... and so hilarious to watch! I also thought the judges and Ryan Seacrest would get on my nerves this year, but again, I actually thought they were all really funny! And now that Ryan's toned down his metro look, I think he's more fun to watch y'know? So some of the more memorable characters were the boxer girl (who I can't believe didn't get in!) and the woman who sold her wedding ring to make the trip to Washington to audition - I swear her husband beats her! He looked like a hick wife abuser! My friend Beatrice thinks she doesn't really want to go to Hollywood to be a singer, she just wants to get away from him! I can't believe I'm sucked into American Idol... again. Sadly this is all I will be doing every Tuesday and Wednesday night from now until May. If you need me, I will be on the couch staring at the television. Or burning in hell for using the Lord's name in vain. God help us all.
